St. Louis Cardinals reliever and ground ball specialist was called for the ninth inning in Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. He allowed to singles by Ben Zobrist and Addison Russell. Jason Heyward punched out an infield single to Maness. Zobrist scored on his error throw to home. He was removed from the hill with the one run on three hits by the Cubs.

Late this morning, it was announced by the Cardinals that Maness is now listed on the 15-Day DL due to right elbow strain. They have recalled Sam Tuivailala from Memphis Triple-A to replace him in the bullpen.

As with many teams across the MLB, the Cardinals disable list is growing. Eight of the dozen listed are part of their rotation/bullpen.

The date of return for Seth Maness has not been updated. Late June was from his previous stint on the DL this season.

With increasing number of pitchers going down, in my opinion, the Cardinals trainers should begin a regiment of a daily dose of "Fish Oil" tablets to help with these young joints. I'm presuming, if we see Maness back after another round of "rest and rehab", we may see him mid-to-end of September. Unless, this go-round deems "surgery necessary".

Tuivailala will join the team in Houston for their two game series beginning tonight.
